Referrals

A referral for individual or group counseling at Healing Minds Psychology is not required however if you wish to receive a rebate for your sessions, you will need to make an appointment with your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

A MHCP will provide you with a rebate for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year (6 sessions, with the possibility of an additional 4 if you require). The current rebate under Medicare Better access is $84.80 for a 50 minute individual consultation with a General Psychologist, and $124.80 for a 50 minute individual consultation with a Clinical Psychologist.

You may also be eligible for a MHCP for group counseling which will provide a rebate for up to 10 group sessions. The current rebate under Medicare Better access is $21.65 per 60 minute group session (6-10 people). At Healing Minds Psychology we will only charge you the out of pocket gap should you have an eligible MHCP, saving you the inconvenience of making a manual claim!

Cancellation fee

A late cancellation or missed appointment is a loss to three people:

1. Another client who is on the waiting list to see the psychologist urgently
2. The psychologist who spent the morning preparing for the session
3. To you the client, as every missed appointment delays your therapy process

For this reason, a 50% cancellation fee ($55) will be charged for any cancellation less than 24 hours notice before the scheduled appointment

Other rebate services

Private Health Insurance

You may be eligible for a rebate from your Private Health Insurer for Psychological services – please contact your Health Insurance Provider for more details.

The Medicare Safety Net provides financial assistance to individuals who accrue large out of hospital medical expenses. If you reach the relevant threshold for visits attended, you may be eligible for a higher Medicare benefit. For example, once you reach the relevant threshold you still pay the same amount upfront however with the higher Medicare benefit the out of pocket expense is reduced.
